Using the Wizard in Print Music 2004, the first screen asks for the song's title. Later when the song is saved, a document name is asked for. It is easy to change the document name, but I have not found any way to change that original song's title that appears at the top of every page. Is there a way?

In Finale, this is in a page called File Info, found in the File menu. You can delete the text block and manually enter the name as well, and can even specify a page range for the text block to appear. I'm not sure PrintMusic has all these options.

you should be able to change it by selecting the text tool and then double-clicking on the text block handle that appears just above the song title. you can then edit the text by clicking inside the text block.

edit: this only changes the title for the first page, though, but if you change the title on any of the other pages, it should reflect on all the pages of the score...

Thanks,

I do not have the "File Info" option. I am working with the Text Tool and finding a learning curve there.

Thanks again.

The things I enter on page 1 appear in green. The things I enter on all subsequent pages appear in red. Is there any way to control those colors? Also my Placement tool and Justification tool seem to not be working, so I am having to use the handles to drag the text boxes for placement. Is that common for Print Music 2004?

with the text tool selected, click on the 'text' menu item and see whether there is perhaps a check mark next to "attach new text to measure"? if this option is selected, then entered text appears in red. the text will be in green if "attach new text to page" is selected.

as for the "placement" and "justification" tools, are these the "alignment" and "justification" items under the "text" menu item? they both work for me with printmusic 2006, so i'm not sure where the problem could be...

"Attach new text to page" is selected. The "Attach new text to measure" is not checked. "Justification" and "Placement" are the alignment options given in the "Text" window.

oh, okay, i guess it's named differently in 2006 - instead of "placement", i have "alignment".

strange that it won't work, though. when i have the handle of a text box selected and i choose to align "left" or "right" or "center horizontally", the text block(s) moves accordingly on the page. and the same with the "justification" option when i'm typing inside the text box.

as for the text appearing in red, i'm afraid i don't know any other reason for it happening. perhaps some of the more "seasoned" printmusic users could help? i'm still learning the program myself! :-)
