Hey Aram it all depends on the type of music in my opinion. In Baroque music, the equivalent of "grace" notes comprised a huge library of notated ornamentations, as well as explicit grace notes, and many of these were more correctly played, with some emphasis and significant duration, starting on the actual beat if the note to which they applied, so for example a grace F# followed by a quarter note G might be played as a sixteenth F# on the beat, with a dotted eighth G following, or even as a pair of eighths, depending on context. The "throw-away" grace note came in much later with classical music.

So it's horses for course, but most importantly, what gives you the music you want to hear?

I've always thought that single grace notes should be eighth's, double and triple grace notes should be sixteenth's, and more than that should be thirty-second's.

Hey -6th, that's often how they are written, but not how they are performed! Also, I generally don't use double beams in paired grace notes, but that's a personal thing!

Yeuck! I don't think so, Aram. My name is not "Dear" or "Sweetheart", as I thought you'd guess from my previous supposed to be ironic message.

Maybe we need some privacy, sweetheart. I've got an open palm with somebody's name on it. ;)

I have a feeling you'd be in for quite a surprise, Aram.

The idea is to realize that, no matter how many rejections you get, there is always somebody out there ready to do the heavy lifting. Just keep this in mind, and you'll be busier than a fox in a hen-house. smilewinkgrin

Oh, don't get me wrong - I wasn't saying you'd be rejected. I just thought you and Sophie might not really find each other compatible after meeting. But if you two are willing to experiment with it, I'd be curious to know how it works out!
