Once again, with the subject listed to entice a response...

I have just upgraded to 2009 from 2001 (I miss my 2001!). I am writing string orchestra music, and when I play back my composition, the Violin 1 part is playing back one octave lower than written. When I am feeding the notes in, it is sounding on pitch, so the problem must be with my midi set up. The other instruments are playing as written. Any thoughts?

Okay, I'll expand of what I just said. You will find the answer under "staff attributes." Look at the transposition settings.

Select the Staff tool, then menu item Staff>Edit Staff Attributes

Then select the relevant staff and look at transposition options and make sure that the Violin 1 part is not set to any transposition.

[sorry for duplicating your answer Ron - you pressed submit just a few seconds before i did :)]
