I've been a Finale user for 12 years and have never had this problem in this way before. I understand most of what would be the common causes of it, and trust that, if you are trying to help me, you do, too. I do not think the common causes apply here, as you'll see...

Here is the issue.

I am used to hearing the instrument of the staff I have selected (while using speedy entry) when I play on my keyboard, whether or not I am entering notes. Now, I can only hear my score upon playback. The only other way I can hear a note is if I use "enter" to add a note or if I add an accidental to an existing note.

Here is my setup...

Casio Privia PX-300 (MIDI out) ---> (MIDI in) M-Audio M-Track Plus computer interface (USB out) ---> (USB in) Lenovo Thinkpad E520 laptop, running Windows 7 64-bit with Finale 2011b.r2

MIDI Setup:
In: MTrack External
Out: Default MIDI Output Device

Audio Setup:
Audio Driver: M-Track Quad ASIO Driver

"Play Finale through VST" is checked.

No instruments are muted or soloed.

All instruments are properly routed to their respective channels in the ARIA Player.

I have recently upgraded to ARIA Player/Engine v1.620.

Any thoughts? I'll hold off on my theory as to where the issue could lie until I get some outside feedback.

What is the MIDI Thru setting? Is Playback checked in the Speedy drop-down menu?

Finale 2002b, 2003a, 2004b, 2005b, Win XP SP3, 2011b Win 7 64bit, 2012a Bought and Paid For (Hopefully soon 2012b with some of the MAJOR BUGS fixed--well, now with 2012b and some of the bugs are fixed) 2012c, with some bug fixes. 2014c at present.

I had this same problem last night. However, after I exited and restarted Finale, everything played back as it should. If that had failed to work, my next step would have been a system reboot.

Finale 2014c with Garritan Personal Orchestra 4.0.
JABB 3 and Concert & Marching Band 2.
Steinway: basic. Garritan's Instant Orchestra.
Garritan World Instruments. TGTools Pro
Windows 7 Home Edition, AMD FX-8100 8-Core Processor, 10 GB RAM

Zuill, you found it - I had turned MIDI Thru off at some point for some reason and not made the connection. :-P I changed it to "Smart" and everything is working normally again. Thank you!
