Sharing this workaround (to save you time diagnosing and working around the problem):

If you used fixed font sizes in Finale 2014c the lyrics will not avoid collisions. Rather than manually adjusting many lyric syllables and note positions you can switch to an equivalent font size that is not fixed. Screenshot and file example attached.

Would this be true if you did not lock the system?

MakeMusic is aware of the problem and they are looking into a future fix, as far as I know. I avoid fixed size in lyrics, because of the bug.

Finale 2002b, 2003a, 2004b, 2005b, Win XP SP3, 2011b Win 7 64bit, 2012a Bought and Paid For (Hopefully soon 2012b with some of the MAJOR BUGS fixed--well, now with 2012b and some of the bugs are fixed) 2012c, with some bug fixes. 2014c at present.
