Howdy,
What does it take to get the chord character sets to work properly? When typing into the score, I should, for example, be able to type in the appropriate character set after the chord letter so that keying in (e.g.) 0168 while pressing alt should give me a 13(#11)suffix using the jazz font. But nothing I do can get the dog gone thing to work (I've tried colons, semi colons and commas [and nothing] after the chord letter, but it doesn't recognize the character set (in the above example, the windows character map agrees with the finale documentation.
I'm having the same difficulty with the Maestro font. Am I doing something stupid, or is there something about where these fonts are loaded? Is there a global option that I'm missing? I'm using Finale 2003, but I've had similar issues with 2001 and 02.
This probably has been covered before, but my attempts to find it within the online documentation and the search function on this board were fruitless.
Thanks for any help or ideas.

Brian,
Here is one way to do it in Type Into Score.
For example, C9sus4 ---
Type C
Type : (colon)
Type 0 (zero)
Press Space Bar
The chord selection screen will appear.
Scroll down to find what you want. (In this case #258)
Double click on it (don't press alt or type the number) and it will be entered in your score.
There may be an easier way to do it, but this is the method I use.

Dick,
I don't know if this is easier, but it is faster if you can remember which box the chord symbol you want is in. (I made an index card with all of suffixes and their box numbers on it.)
Type the root (Bb)
Type a colon (:)
Type the box number for the chord (258 for 9sus4 in your example)
There is no need to use any special modifier keys for this process (option, shift, etc.) on the Mac and think it works the same on the PC.
BTW, this method is described somewhere in the online documentation if you want more info.
Good luck.

Thanks guys.
The method of typing the 0 and space bar works fine, so I'll start from there and fine tune it.

Brian,
Glad we could help.
Jim,
I used your method at first, using a print-out of the chords for reference. But kept forgetting where I put it when I needed it. It's one of those geezer problems!

Dick,
You can't be much more of a geezer than me. And when I can't find anything, I just chalk it up to CRS or too many tall cold ones.
