The first ending begins at bar 75 and goes through bar 77. This is fine in the score and in the linked flute, violin, and viola parts. In the cello part, the first ending bars happen to come at the end of one line and the beginning of the next line. The first ending bracket, however, does not wrap into the second line - bars 76 and 77. How do I make the bracket wrap properly?

Thanks.

Harvey

There should be a bracket above m75, and above m77. With the Repeat Tool, Shift/Drag the upper handle in m77 to the left so it appears over m76. Moving the bracket will unlink it from the score.

Sorry, I can't look at your attached part right now, but the above hopefully is correct.

The ending was not created correctly. In Finale, the first ending is customarily created with 2 halves: the left bracket and the right bracket. Join the 2 to make one bracket by dragging one or the other handle.

In my posted revised file, once the bracket is created correctly, in the score and 3 of the parts, the first handle is drtagged to the right to join the left. In the Cello part, I drag the left bracket line to the beginning of the system.

Wow! Thank you, Zuill. I did not understand why there were two first ending brackets in the Repeat Selection. Now, after considerable reading and re-reading of your explanation, I get it. I need to make the first ending in two parts. Subtle - and clever.

Thank you.

Harvey

Perhaps you already know this but you can create first and second endings all in one go using the repeat tool or its related contextual menu. Just select the measure(s) you want in the first ending and then right-click them. Under the contextual menu, select Repeats/Create First and Second Ending. It will place the beginning and ending first ending brackets, the repeat sign and a second ending bracket.
