I have imported a midi file and have quite a few 16th rests I want to remove by extending the duration of the notes preceding it.
Is there a simple way to do this in Finale?
I don't want to have to delete the note and the rest and then insert a new note of the right duration - that's too messy.

I checked the speedy entry options in the manual and I thought that Shift+Enter would work, but nothing happens.

Please help!

Try the TGTools plugin called Modify Rests. It has an option to minimize rests by expanding the note and deleting the rests.

Another option is to Retranscribe. You might have to adjust your quantification settings to get exactly what you want. I typically use the retranscribe function on small sections at a time so I can undo it immediately if it's not exactly what I want.

Edit: Warning: I'm on F2003a. Your mileage may vary.

Retranscribe is not without its drawbacks. Some additional items get deleted when applying retranscribe.
