As far as I know, the basic steps would be to locate the existing sound font, and load your new one into the folder. Then, follow these instructions:

https://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/Finale2014Mac/Content/Finale/SoundFonts.htm

The details may vary somewhat, but the principle should be the same.

Simple Entry, QWERTY keyboard, numberpad. That's my system, and I'm stickin' to it.

No, PM doesn't have the ability to select a different soundfont. It will always use the soundfont named synthgms.sf2 but you can fool it by placing your desired soundfont into the same folder and giving it the name synthgms.sf2 (first rename the old soundfont to something else so you don't lose it). If you have access to a soundfont editor, then you can edit the default soundfont and add the additional patches into it; the default soundfont has all the standard patches in Bank 0, Bank 1 only contains a few patches such as the old piano and violin sounds as well as Boomwhackers, and Bank 128 is the percussion sounds. You can add any other patches you want into unused banks so that everything will still default to working as usual, but you have access to your new patches when you want them.
