I wanted to see if anyone is using Gigastudio with Finale. What equipment set up do you have? How do you set up the various sounds through Finale? Thanks

I am using Finale 2004 and gigastudio, but (as most arrangers do) I have both on separate computers. I am using a shuttle PC as a dedicated Giga machine.
It should be possible to use both on the same machine, but it will be a lot of trouble. Giga does not take kindly to running other apps at the same time.
Especially using MIDIyoke and giga on the same (XP) machine is a recipe for disaster!
Tascam does not like to admit this, but it is true. If you want to use giga sounds on the same computer, it might be wiser to use Kontakt (Native instruments, haven't checked it out) or HALion (through a VST host program). I have tried HALion and have gotten it to work, but I couldn't get used to the interface. It would probably be fine if you don't do any sample editing yourself
On the other hand, my Shuttle is rock solid, and I never have to worry about running out of processor power. I just push the on button, and it will load up my favorite piano and string sounds...
Pure Bliss...
If want any more info, you could always contact me via e-mail.

Rest assured that Giga and Finale work just fine on a single machine.
Hardware essentials: 2 Hard drives, 1 GB of RAM, Pro quality Audio card with GSIF driver.
Configuration: In Giga, setup Finale as your sequencer. Always start Giga first, and start Finale by clicking the Sequencer button on the tool bar. In Finale, ditch the softsynth/sondfont play back. Setup Giga’s virtual MIDI ports for output. There’s no reason to use MIDI Yoke.
In Use: In your Finale score, create non-printing articulations for patch and other control changes.

Thanks for both of your input. My setup is closer to your set up Bill, could I email you some additional questions? Thanks
