I created a file for a bass student that has piano, bass and drum kit. For her to practice and play along I want to export the file as an mp3 without the bass part. I have deleted the bass staff and played through the file and it plays back in Finale with just the piano and drums, but when I save as an mp3 the bass is still there. I'm puzzled.

That is a puzzle. Would you post the file for us to play with?

Well, now it works. I turned off HP, saved and renamed the file and then turned HP back on and the bass line is gone. Weird. I noticed that in the mp3 save process Finale was creating a temp MIDI file on my desktop. I can't even recreate the problem using the original source file. Gremlins. :-)

Edit: Not gremlins - iTunes. When I failed to rename the file mp3 iTunes didn't play back the new version, instead playing the previous mp3 with the same name. By changing the name of the file on the desktop I can add or subtract the bass, or rather tell iTunes which file to play. I should have thought of that.
