What gives? This is the second major error in my fresh installation of Printmusic on my new MAC MINI. Can someone please tell me how to make Printmusic work with my MAC MINI? Thanks.
In the worst case I can always install it on my Windows PC instead, which is rather a shame.

MAC in an acronym for Machine Address Code.
Mac is a shortened version of Macintosh. When you chat with programmers and mix the two you get screamed at for talking about two totally differing things! Here you might get a mild correction or you might get flames.
Also, the proper way to write the name of your Mac is mini and not MINI. That is Apple's little thing, but it is the way they chose to do it. It is like eBay (and iBook or iPod) versus Ebay, ebay, or EBAY (and the same with all of these "i" things).
Now that I have said that, I have a question for you.
How much did you pay for your mini, how was it outfitted (RAM and all that sort of stuff) and how do you like it so far (despite the problems with NotePad)?
I have an iBook 900 (G3 processor) and am thinking of getting a mini in the Fall. I am polling people about them as I find the time.
Good luck with the install. I have never had a problem installing the full version of Finale, but I have had a lot of other problems. I have never used NotePad.
I have received a lot of great advice here. These people can help you with many things.

You asked if I like it. I don't recommend the keyboard because of its strange feel. I think it has less space between the keys than I'm used to. As for the mouse (acually the driver for the mouse) it's a disaster. They use something called Mouse Acceleration and that means the distance the pointer goes on the screen is not a function of the distance that you travel but the actual amount of acceleration you use. For someone like me with a very high resolution mouse (laser mouse) this makes my expensive mouse a waste of money because I don't need or want the OS to make my mouse move slowly when I move it less than a centimeter. Apparently Apple used to allow people to disable the M.A. feature but not in this latest version. It was enough of a problem for me to abandon OS2 and now I feel the same way about this Mac. I searched the web and others are griping vociferously about this same problem. So I'm not alone.
I am frustrated to find all the Windows conventions to be gone. For example, Control Arrow used to move me exactly one word. In the Mac OS that's gonna move you to the beginning and end of line. Under Windows that's the HOME and END keys, which do absolutely nothing on a Mac (at least while I'm typing this.) All these convention changes, especially when you LOSE important functionality, are really frustrating. If Apple wanted to keep customers faithful they should prominently display a mapping between common Windows functions and the corresponding Mac functions, if there are any corresponding funcions.
Thanks. | Back to Top | |

It also warns me that I have 30 days to register or I will lose the ability to save files. This is depressing. The software doesn't work and now it's going to disable itself because I'm not able to register. I've never even heard of software that disables itself if you don't register. Is that called timebombware?
I'm still hopeful that the vendor can fix this problem. But I may have only 7 days to get my money back from the sales outlet. | Back to Top

If you have a block of text, you can option arrow to get to the next word.

Does Windows offer such a map? If so, you can use it. If not, why isn't such an omission grounds to disparage Windows?
I think you are just having growing pains. Each computer does things differently, and you are used to one and not the other. I just found a PDF with Windows key combinations that take alt+four numbers to make single characters that only take one keystroke on Mac. Want to make a bullet on a Mac? Just type option 8? On a PC, you have to use alt 0149. It's the same as going to another country and having to drive on the other side of the road or speak a differnet language. One isn't right and the other is wrong, it's just the way they do it. Give it some time to learn how to use a Mac, and if you don't like it, you can always go back to PC.
dgp said... No, the advice in the sticky thread did NOT solve my problem. Do you remember what the elephant told you about writing in caps? Since message boards can't use vocal inflections, other methods of providing additional meaning to what the words say have been established. One is that all caps is considered shouting. If you didn't know that, then I'll assume that you weren't throwing my intention to help you back in my face.

It was simply reflecting frustration that this product doesn't work. I didn't realize I can call them. Thanks. | Back to Top

But the program appears to be working and registered now. I can't wait to use it. That scanning function sounds simply unbelievably awesome. I'm trying to figure out if I'm dreaming or not, cause I ca't believe your program could actually do that. | Back to Top
