Mac Finale 2005
In multiple measure rests, I'm getting a "tie" type item that I can't remove. I've reloaded the program, especially the fonts, but nothing seems to work. Is this a Finale bug? Or one of the wonderful artifacts from OS 10.4.5?

The "tie" shape has been assigned to be your multi-measure rest symbol. You'll need to reset the correct shape as the multi-measure rest shape.

As JT says

to do this, if you can't find it

go to Options>document options> Multi measure rests. At the top of the dialog box is a button to set the shape used for MM rests. Somehow the selection got changed, you need to re-select the correct shape

after the correct shape is globally changed, you'll have to break the multimeasure rest, then re-create it for the change to take affect.
