I do all my work in 2005, and then open the finished files in 2006 for those bells and whistles if needed. When in 2006 I save literally every 30 seconds, because it WILL crash without warning during the most basic of operations.
I'm primarily a speedy entry guy. I can't make 2005 crash by entering data too quickly, but it is easy to do on 2006, particularly when adding articulations and smart shapes.
I've been told more RAM might fix my problems with 2006, but I'm reluctant to spend any $$ upgrading my ancient G3. I'm saving my pennies for a G5, but pennies add up so slowly hopefully I'll be looking at Finale on a 2007 Intel Mac. | Back to Top

I would enter a note in speedy entry and it would take a second or two to register on the screen. Playback was fine (No chance of using Garritan instruments though). A redraw of the screen took forever (3-5 secs). I sprung for the G4 1.67Ghz. A much better machine for 2006. -Matt

Once you buy a microwave you can't imagine life without one. Same thing with a cell phone, or hot running water, or a flush toilet instead of an outhouse.
prs_matt is correct above. Garritan won't even load on my G3, but because I've never been able to use it, I don't miss it. Unless that's the case for you too, you'll never use that G3 for Finale. Save a few more pennies. Don't invest in technology that old. It's a good bet the next Finale won't even run on a G3. G3's have been out since late 1998. That's an elderly machine... | Back to Top
