Hi all,

After updating to OS X 10.6.7, some users have reported difficulty exporting PDF and EPS files from Finale which contain embedded openType Postscript fonts. The problem seems to stem from fixes Apple made to close some security vulnerabilities in font handling. Apple has been notified of this, and Finale is not the only application experiencing theseproblems.

We have not encountered or received reports of problems with the fonts that currently ship with Finale (Maestro, Broadway Copyist, Engraver, Etc), however we suggest users exercise caution when updating to OS X 10.6.7 if the use of third party openType Postscript fonts is required.

If you have updated to OS X 10.6.7 and are experiencing these problems, you can try the following:

1) Utilize a different font.

2) Clear your font cache by typing the following into Terminal:

atsutil databases –removeUser

You may be prompted for your system password. After doing so, restart the computer.

If you are not comfortable using Terminal, free utilities such as OnyX can do this as well. You can clear the font cache under Cleaning > Fonts Tab > Execute (make sure System and Users is checked first).
OnyX is available here:

www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html

3) Downgrade to OS X 10.6.6 by re-installing 10.6 from your Snow Leopard installation disk then apply the 10.6.6 combo update available here:

Thanks.
Many people wait for a new OS X update.
I have tried all steps, and the last step was to reinstall 10.6.3 and upgrade to .6
But, Finale was very slow after that, and some applications too.
Anyway, both of my computers were designed for Leo, so I moved completely to Leo. Wiped everything and re-install. It took one day.
If you plan to do it don't update the latest security, it is the same update that makes the trouble.

I just stuck the Snow Leopard disk in again, and ran the installer. The system was downgraded to 10.6(.0), but everything else was as it should be -- printers, system preferences, application support files.
Then I ran the Combo Updater to 10.6.6, and a few other updates, carefully avoiding 10.6.7.

Took just over an hour.

:))
I had to install everything on two machines. Only Logic studio took 4 hours.
Plus Adobe suite.
And all updates....!
Now it is perfect again. No more updates! :))

I didn't need to reinstall Logic, Creative Suite, or any other apps.
