Hello.
Any experience with the opaque enclosure shape of an expression? Why it doesn't work with slurs? I need to get broken slurs with opaque shapes...

slurs seems to be the only Smartshape that the opaque enclosure doesn't work with.
It doesn't seem to work with the dashed version of the slur either.

I have used it extensively with hairpins and glissandi. so it works there.

If I Recall Correctly it is a matter of, in which order the items are drawn.

You can mask a slur - with a page assigned text block that has a "Custom Frame".
The text block must contain text - any text, a space character will do.

See the attached Finale 2011 document.

Thanks Peter! Looks great!
Didn't know that it works with Text.
The only problem is that I have to re-enter hundreds of shapes..
But good to know that it works in that way. Thank you!!

Dear Octo.,

instead of using smart slur "Attach to notes", use the other option: "Attach to measures".
Then you will get what you need.

Best regards,
Wess

Wess, I love those curved beams.
How did you create them?

Hi Peter,

Just "Expression tool" + cloning the shape manually.

As seen, all notes in this group are quarters. In all my previous samples is the same.
This way is easier to fix the stems when the shapes are done.

I also liked the flat ties. I wish Finale did this automatically. How did you do it? BTW, I don't want to be a stickler for details but it's 'battuta' and not 'batutta'.

Dear Vaughan,

This sample material is not corrected, however thanks!
That the colleagues are for.

about the flat slurs: last year I left a post about it.
http://forum.makemusic.com/default.aspx?f=6&m=323141&g=323150#m323150

As an illustration follow the links below.

It is easy.
MM must do that as a part of the smart shapes as well as dashed slurs, we had already talked about with you last spring, I think.

Best regards,
Wess

But what do the curved beams indicate? Do they signify anything other than beams, that I'm not aware of in contemporary music?

All the examples look great!

I would anyway prefer to tell finale to break up slurs with enclosures. They are often in conflict with rehearsal numbers etc...
