Can Finale generate different widths for measures - depending on the time signature? My preference is that a 3/8 be less wide that a 4/4 bar for example - particularly if the bars are empty. How can this be done globally in parts?

I would think Utilities>Music Spacing>Apply Time Signature Spacing might do what you want.

Actually, Apply Time Signature Spacing appears to do nothing at all to empty bars, BUT Apply Beat Spacing seems to do what you want. Or just select all and key 5.

particularly if the bars are empty.

Of course, if the bars aren't empty, then whatever notes are contained in each of the measures should determine the spacing, and Finale should do that well automatically.
