Hello, friends !

I am working on a orchestral score that
calls for non-symmetrical staff entries,
that is, each staff (and name) start
displaying from its playing
measures only. Not sure if here it's a
matter of optimizing systems, I
suppose, because even removing the
blank staves the optimized ones always
start from the system left margin. My
questions are :
1 - how can I hide empty measures and
display them later in same score order ?
2- is that always possible to name staves
elsewhere they start in the score ?

Thank very much for any help, indeed.

Andrew,

That is called Cutaway Score in the online documentation. Open the index file (FinIX.pdf), and follow this path through the hyperlinks:

C > Cutaway scores

If you need help, come back, and tell exactly what you are trying to do.

Basically you select the Staff Tool, select the measures you want to hide and then Staff Menu > Apply Staff Style > Hide Staff > OK.

For the mid-system staff names, I don't have a good solution, other than faking it with measure-attached text or an Expression. Anyone else?

Peter,

thanks a lot for the hint. The problem is
fixed up now and "Cutaway score"
became an acquaintance of mine. :-)

Anonymous,

Thanks a lot for your help. For the
mid-system staff name you need to click
on the Hide Staff, highlight the handle and
then drag it to the position you want.

Greetings,

Andrew
