I'm feeling a bit stupid today. I know there
is an answer that, when I hear it, I'll say
"Duh" and then increase my medication.

Anyway, I have a piece that has all
up-stems where they should be mixed
(depending on staff position as usual).
I've tried using the special tools>stem
direction to clear changes (I can manually
change them, but I can't set them to
default by selecting the handles and
hitting the delete key), and I've tried Mass
Mover>Utilities>Remove Stem Changes,
but it doesn't fix the problem. I don't seem
to have any hidden layers. I think it may be
a Voice-1 Voice-2 thing because that's the
only way I can recreate the problem in a
test file (but I can fix my test file with the
Utility). Using Voice 2 to layer… didn't help
me either. Any Ideas?

Check your Layer Options (either Document Setting or the new Document Options) just to be sure. You can choose to freeze stems without the presence of other layers.
