After a computer crash and a re-install of Finale 2014, I am having a few problems. Now when I extract parts, even though I request new files to be saved in part name, the "Save File" box is blank (asking for part name). Obviously I do not know part name for the first file!!! I have ticked the correct boxes as in the past. Anybody able to help.
See attached file too. Even tried changing %p to %f !!

I know this isn't what you're asking but is there a reason you can't use linked parts? The advantages are great.

It's definitely worth taking the time to learn how to use them. There may occasionally be situations where extraction is necessary, but for most files it's very pleasant to have changes in a score immediately updated in the part(s), to have everything in one file instead of many, etc.
