I'm trying to use;

Add a double hooked dashed line - Z (Hold down Z, then double-click and drag)

It doesn't work. I get a slur instead. The others work. I don't get it.

Anyone have a handle on this?

Maybe it is programmed wrong. What happens if you are in the smart shape tool and select the shape, then type Shift-Z.

Then does it work?

This is one of those places where the documentation is in error. In Windows, I checked with 2011, 2012 and 2014, and in none of those versions does this shortcut work. I'm guessing there was a past version in which it did work, and so they carried over the documentation instructions, but forgot to program the shortcut.

These shortcuts are document specific. You would have to reprogram it for each document. However, you can open the default document, add the shortcut, and then save the default document. You will then need to make sure that document is in the correct folder to be accessed as the default document. Or, if this is in one of your own custom templates, do the same and save the template so the shortcut will be available when using that template.

P.S.: It appears the Broadway Copyist and Jazz Font default files have this shortcut working, but not the Maestro Font default file.

Thank you gents. Kinda wacky isn't it?
Bill, I can make a metatool out of it.
Zuill, I might be wrong about this but as far as I can see I can only change the programming of it in "Simple" not "Speedy". Y or N?

My apology. I thought you were talking about Smart Shapes. For those, you are not in Speedy or Simple, but in the Smart Shape Tool. I didn't realize you wanted to invoke the metatool from within another Tool. I don't know that Finale has that capability.

It has this in the keyboard shortcut part of the user manual on line.

That is only one item of the list. Which list?

When you have 2012 open and you go to "Help" it's in "Keyboard Shortcuts"

Correct. That is for the Smart Shape Tool only. Those shortcuts don't work when you are in Speedy or Simple.

And, as I mentioned earlier, at least in the Windows version, the Default Maestro file has been absent that shortcut for at least 2011-2014. However, it seems the Broadway and Jazz seem to have it. You can resave the Maestro default file after adding that shortcut.
