Hi Guys,
Since the beginning of Finale one feature has never been introduced to the program. It is that of Customizable Key Commands. 95 percent of Finale's menu entries have no key command attached to them, and there is no key command preference where users could create their own key commands. I don't know how they get away with this. In the past costumer service told me to get Quickeys if I want to create my own key commands. I find it insulting to ask costumers they have to buy a third party product to do something that every professional application today should offer natively, especially one that costs more than $600. Everybody knows that key commands are essential to speeding up the workflow. Yes, you can use Metatools to program 8 keys to call up a tool. But why not allow the user to use any key to program a tool, or anything else for that matter. This is just one more thing that proves how outdated and user un-firendly this program is.

Isn't anybody else out there that agrees with me on this?
If you do, pease let them know that it is also important to you, so they put in on their list for the next upgrade.
Thanks!

You can program keyboard shortcuts for any menu command in Finale using OS X, at no extra cost to you.

System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts.

You can specify a submenu item with "Tools->Tuplet" for instances where Finale has more than one menu item of the same name.

There's no reason for each app to write their own routine for keyboard shortcuts when it's built-in to the OS.

Simple Entry shortcuts can be defined within Finale, of course.

And many Simple Entry shortcuts can be customized in the Simple keyboard shortcuts dialogue. For example, I have Q and Z set for Octave Up and Octave Down.

Simple Entry, QWERTY keyboard, numberpad. That's my system, and I'm stickin' to it.
