Greetings to anyone who might read this and have some ideas to help me.

I'm working on a score in which I'm trying to double the note durations for four bars in a refrain, which falls in the middle of the score. I added four blank bars after those four bars, selected the original four, and use the "Utilities-> Change -> Note Durations" to double the note values and rebar the music, which works as advertised and doubles all the note values and rebars the music. However...

In the succeeding bars, after the changed section, in any staves that have notes in the second layer, the contents of layer 2 remain where they ought to be, but contents of layer one are moved 4 bars to the right. Staves with no content in layer 2 are where they should be.

I don't see anything in the manual about layers affecting the "Change note durations" utility, but it seems to be a problem. Anyone know anything definitive? Beats the heck out of me.

Do it in 2 steps. Double the duration without rebar, then do the rebar.

Never mind - i found a workaround. I changed all the blank measures to (real) whole rests, and copied layer 1 into layer 2 in the other measures where there was no layer 2 presence. Everything then doubled and re-bar-ed correctly, except for some kind of triplet anomaly in the cello. Thank you, and never mind. ;-)

Thank you for the response.
If i sent you something that doesn't make sense, ignore. I didn't know what the buttons in the corner were for.

I think my approach saves some work compared to your workaround, but use whatever is best.

I'd actually written a response to this but had deleted it. When changing note values, Finale can have problems with hidden rests or incomplete layers, and it sometimes refuses to alter tuplets correctly. I'm reposting this because the OP mentioned a triplet anomaly, which is perhaps similar to my experience. To be really secure, I prefer to use Jari Williamsson's Rhythm and Meter plugin, as this has always worked perfectly (for me, at least). It does double the meter but this can be changed back quickly and easily with the Time Signature Tool and with Rebar selected. No need to insert measure stacks.
