I've made a number of macros to select Finale Tools, instead of using programming the tools within Finale, so I can use keys other than the ones designated by Finale, and have them not dependent on each file. For some reason, if I return to Finale after using another application and use a Keyboard Maestro macro that call up the Tools menu, it gives an error message that the Tools menu is unavailable. The Tools menu "looks" available and I can use it fine manually.
But if I return to Finale after using another application and us a macro that calls up a different menu, it seems to work fine -- and after I do that, the other macros then work fine, too! So, based on a suggestion from a KM forum user, I programmed a macro that runs every time I make Finale active after going to another application. That macro activates the File menu, to pull it down, then hits the Esc key to get rid of the menu. After doing that, all the macros work. It's a strange workaround, but seems to work at least as a temporary solution.
This was not an issue with Finale and QuicKeys, but I know at least one other person who has had this issue with Finale and KM. I haven't heard of KM users having this problem with other programs.
Has anyone else had experience with this problem, or have other better solutions? Also, if there is a forum or group specific to using KM with Finale, it would be great to know about.
