I have a single part open and the original score open. I copy over 2 measures (for example) of cues I'd like to add into the single part. Not sure how to use the "add cues" plugin with that setup. I was able to manually add cues to some of the other parts, reduce the size of the noteheads, and somehow mute them so they don't sound on playback. But that was a while ago and while I usually write these things down, I guess I forgot to do it this time. I can't remember how I did it, but it was not with the "add cues" plugin. I know how to reduce the notesize but how do I manually prevent those measures (or notes) from playing back?

I have several solo parts that I need to add cues to!

Thanks!
Tanya

Hi. Sounds like you're dealing w/ extracted parts? I recommend taking the time to learn to work w/ linked parts in the future, as it will save you time and aggravation. The Add Cue notes dialogue is very simple, you just highlight the measure you want to use as a cue, and the click add cue notes, and select the part or parts in which you want that cue to appear. The somewhat trickier matter is hiding the cue in the score - but that's of no concern right now I guess.

If all you need is to stop those cue notes from playing back, the key is to put the cues in a different layer (I use layer 4), and then to go into the Score Manager and set the playback instrument for that layer of that instrument to none.

That should solve it for you.

Once the cue notes have been created (the plug-in puts them in Layer 4 in reduced size), another way, after selecting the regions, is using the plug-in (to be installed) JW Change -> Note Entries > Playback -> Mute to make them silent (select their layer in the Filter).

I just go to Document Options / Layers and uncheck Playback for Layer 4. That should take care of all cues in all parts produced by the Add Cue Notes plug-in, unless you need Layer 4 for some other purpose.

In document settings > Layers, there is also a check box for Playback. I would assume that unchecking this for Layer 4 also has a similar effect ...

Motet and nordensten,

Thank you for the reminder. It is indeed the fastest method.
