Does Voice 2 to Layer work for anyone? It doesn't for me on 25.1.

Did it work before the 25.1 release?

No. Can anyone verify that last version that it worked?

Voice 2 to Layer... works for me on Mac in 25.1. Maybe the v2 notes are in a layer you aren't expecting.

Maybe I'm not using it correctly. I highlight the bars that I want to change that have 2-note harmonic intervals, then wade through the menus and select "Voice 2 To Layer". Choose From Layer: 1 To Layer: 2. Click OK. Nothing happens after the dialog box disappears.

"Voice 2" is a special Finale jargon for a Speedy Entry feature that I suspect you're not using here. Rather, I think you have simple chords. Instead, you want "explode".

No I don't! I want the 2nd voice to stay in the same staff and be in layer 2 with the stems down.

Motet's right. Voice 2 is something different. (Voice 2 isn't the 2nd note of a chord.) JW Polyphony does what you want.

Does Jari have that working for v25 yet?

Yes you do! :-)

Run Explode, which creates two temporary staves. Move the notes in the lower one from layer 1 to layer 2.

Select "Show active layer only" and copy the layer 2 staff onto the layer 1 staff (whose notes are temporarily invisible).

Deselect "show active layer only."

Copy the result where you want, delete temporary staves.

Admittedly, it's arcane, but you don't have to wait for the JW plug-in.

The only JW plugin that has the word "polyphony" in it is JW Staff Polyphony.
This IS available for Finale 25, in the zipped package he has made available.

Now whether this plugin works exactly as it did before, or is applicable to the OP's particular need, that is another question.

Finale (started with ver. 3.0) using 2012 (2014 has been shelved for its lack of support for older Garritan libraries), putting Finale 25 through its paces.
Windows 8.1
basically ALL Garritan libraries, plus XSample Chamber Ensemble.

I tested the new plugin and it works perfectly well.

The new plugins are not yet available for Macintosh.

I don't know if it's possible for Matt, but if he has a Finale 2014 version, download and install the plugin (Staff Polyphony) in 2014, do the work, save, and slalom back to v25.

Yeah I'm on a Mac. I do have the JW pluggins for 2014.5 so I could go back and forth. I'm hoping he releases the new Mac versions soon. The reason for the post was that I was bummed that the JW Staff Polyphony plugin didn't work for Finale 25 and I thought a way around that would be "Voice 2 To Layer" but you folks have cleared that up. Not an option unfortunately.
Thanks for the help!
Matt
