I have completed a full score with voices satb, brass quartet, timpani, and organ. I next need a piano-vocal score for choral rehearsals. 1. I can create this by imploding the brass quartet to a two-stave piano part below and then deleting the brass quartet. HOWEVER, it appears I can only do this by creating a new score (save as). In this case, changes and edits are no longer linked. 2. If I create a new part in Manage Parts the option of imploding in grayed out. I’m stuck. I used the number 1 option above and rehearsed the music, but when I found mistakes, I now have to go back and make changes in both. This is not good. I need a way to create a linked part, and that requires the ability to implode the brass.

Implode the brass into a piano part in the Finale score but don't delete the original brass. In Manage Parts, create the parts you want, including the conductor's score. It's true you'll need to keep the brass and the piano in sync, but at least it's all in the same file.

If you combine your brass on the original score onto 2 staves (Tpt. 1/2, Tbn. 1/2) you have the start of an accompaniment part. Just create a new "part" containing the choral staves and the 2 brass staves. Use that part for the vocal/piano score. You can use "Implode" on the score (not the part).
