I find myself going back in fourth doing a switch between a white color and the original yellow color to temporarily hide all unlinked items that clutter the parts while editing them.
It would be very very nice to have an option like this (hide unlinked items) and accessible with a shortcut.

You're probably talking about when you have two or more sets of titles or page numbers to display on the parts? I usually drag the ones I don't want to see off the margin of the page. It won't affect other parts when you are in a part.

If you need to do this in the score, hold down the override key (command key) while you drag so it won't affect the parts.

Well, yes, this is also true.
But there may be cases (I'm in front of one right now) where the hidden elements in the part itself are so numerous that the part becomes hard to work on.

What items are you hiding that you can't drag off? I'm trying to imagine your workflow here.

Oh it has to do with this particular score..
The instruments are processed with live electronics and in the score, there is a bunch of lines that indicate which process is on above the instruments staves.
There is also all sorts of markings which are relevant to the conductor but not to the players

These should not appear in the parts. And I have neither the time or the patience to move all these lines or other objects in the margins.

I want finale to give me the option to show hide these elements.

Understand my point :
I know everything is doable by hand with the mouse.
But, I also know Finale keeps a record of whats' hidden or unlinked somewhere.
So it's rather easy to program the action of hiding or showing these elements.

Anytime on is doing some workaround by hand is because there is a weak point in the program design.
