Every time I make a MIDI file from Finale, if the last note is an eighth note or smaller, it gets cut off - either partially or completely - in the MIDI file. It plays fine in Finale with Playback, but when it gets converted to MIDI, it cuts off without fail. Any ideas what the problem is? This dates back to pre-OS X.

I think it has to do with interaction of QT synth and Finale, but the simple remedy was to add one measure just to the file from which you are extracting MIDI (if you don't want making copies extra for that you can add one measure, extract MIDI, and undo 1 measure add).

The same happens with me using internal speaker playback (with a normal Finale file, not a midi file); I add a measure and it still happens; I'm not using quicktime; using the Finale soundfonts. I even extend it in the playback options to go past the last measure of the piece; I seem to remember it having to do with something with the notated rests in previous versions....?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

Similar problem to you guys.

I found a solution that works if the last note of the piece falls on the last beat of the measure: add a measure, add the same note to the new measure, and tie across the barline. The extra note should be tiny -- 1/64 -- so it adds imperceptibly to the sound of the last note.
