"The tech told me that this was a 'sticky flag' thing and that it could not be deleted without erasing the HD that it is stored in."
I hate to disagree with an Apple techie, but if you log into an OSX computer as root user (you will have to enable this with the netinfo manager), you can delete pretty much anything thing you like, including the system, so proceed with caution! You can use the terminal program and the "rm" command to delete files from the command line - but there is no way back if you delete the wrong thing. Type "man rm" without the quotes in the terminal for more info.
Hope this helps

They do from time to time, but to be sure they get your message, send an email to macsupport@makemusic.com. | Back to Top

You create a new file with the same name and save it in the same location as the bad file so the new file will replace it. Sometimes that works. You'll probably need to take the bad file out of the trash to try the trick. | Back to Top

he just erased his hard disk, so what? It was fun to read, so I hope he keeps updating us regularly;) | Back to Top

I took it out of the trash and looked at the information of the file. When I looked (press the "i" button on the Finder toolbar to get the info of a file), the "lock" box had been checked. I also made sure the permissions were set right. I then was able to delete the file and empty the trash. I didn't have to rebuild anything, or reformat, or anything. If you go here, there is an article on it: docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106272
Good luck | Back to Top | |
