Well, very nice. I'm impressed. MM has not only fixed quite a few bugs but has added a number of new features. The Time and Key Signature dialog boxes have been improved. MM has decided to change the selecting method instead of trying to get the sliders to work. The new TS dialog is a definite improvement, especially for novices who didn't yet understand Finale's concept of beat durations. I'm also happy about the extra setting for repeat brackets. Hopefully we won't have to perform as many manual tweaks for 1st and 2nd endings. Another great improvement is that macro programs now seem to be able to recognise the menus even after the Finale has just started up or after switching back to Finale from another program. Also, when creating PDFs, we're no longer confronted with UNTITLED. Saving Preferences works as it should. And that's just a small selection...

I was also impressed. REAL BLACK! Transparency is finally back. What a long wait but I'm glad some real publisher issues are finally being addressed. Way to go Mark Adler and team!

All well and good, but until Jari's plugins are ready for the Mac, I'll stick to 2014.5.

So - I should do this update without fear? In the middle of a big project and can't afford surprises (but the PDF thing is driving me nuts).
I suppose I can always Time Machine my way back if there's trouble...

Finale 25.1 seems to be doing everything which was promised and I haven't had any problems. Very glad about the new features and fixes. Strange that a number of Windows users are having installation problems. Let's see if all holds up on the Mac side...

I am still evaluating v25, and find this .1 update SLOWER than the initial version 25.0.
It goes back to 2014-slowness. Why? Shouldn't it be faster?
The spacing engine is really extremely slow.
Also, with larger scores any staff distance editing (Staff Tool) makes the score flickering, disappearing or similar.

Confirmed. Same issue here. Beat Handles slow. They may have fixed the notes not doubling when moving but I'm finding dynamics that are attached to notes I move appear doubled until a redraw…plus other issues. Too bad. I was really hoping some speed issues were fixed so I could use it. Looks like a quick "out-the-door" the day Dorico was released.

One other major improvement, which does not seem to have been mentioned, is the efficiency of the app. Finale 2012, 2014 and 2014.5 all used significant amounts of CPU (and consequently battery life) just to have a document open. Finale 25.1 is much more efficient. Admittedly, playback still pegs a core at 100%, but I can use Finale on my laptop unplugged for much longer, which is a major boon to productivity.

That's good to know, Wiggy. And despite the reports of a few other users, I have the impression that 25.1 is a bit zippier: it seems to start up and load files more quickly.

Take a look at the Read Me file for v. 25(.1). There it lists what has been removed: Garritan Ambience, Mirror Tool, Movie Window, Scanning and... The Tempo Tool. Why update if you're not going to check out what the update has to offer?
@ Ralph: I know it sounds like the washed-car syndrome! It was something I noticed even though I wasn't expecting it. Could still be my imagination...

Too bad they still haven't fixed the bug where playback continues despite multiple clicks on the 'stop' button in the playback window. Most annoying and already several versions old.
