Make sure you are in the Selection Tool. Control-Click (Right-Click) on a Smart Shape and pick Edit from the menu. Two things happen - the shape is opened for editing and you are taken to the Smart Shape Tool. Viewed from that particular workflow, it seems to serve a purpose, eh?

So does double clicking on the smart shape when in the selection tool, which I believe to still be much faster than control-click or right-click and choosing a menu item. Finale 25. Mac OS X 10.11.6. |
