As far as I know, font data should not need "optimizing for Retina". It will display at the native resolution of the screen. Optimizing for Retina refers to things like icons and bitmapped...

I'm happy to have the app, but the text and the notation look horrible on the iPad 3. I'm hoping that making it Retina Display compatible is high on the bug fix list.
